Caleb Burge, Car Accident: 22-Year-Old Caleb Burge Dies from Injuries
According to investigators, a serious collision occurred around 4 p.m. on Highway 87 in Sabine Pass involving a passenger van and a bus. Preliminary reports indicate that a Chevrolet Express passenger van was traveling northwest when it crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Authorities say the van then struck a Prevost passenger bus traveling southeast, resulting in a high-impact crash that led to multiple injuries and fatalities. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the collision was reported and worked to assist victims, secure the roadway, and transport the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Officials confirmed that Caleb Burge, 22, was among those affected and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Reports also indicate that this incident resulted in multiple victims, with at least five fatalities in total as investigations and recovery efforts continued.
Law enforcement agencies are currently working to determine what caused the van to cross into the opposite lane. Investigators are reviewing possible contributing factors such as driver error, road conditions, mechanical issues, and any other circumstances that may have played a role in the collision.
Traffic on the highway was significantly disrupted for several hours as authorities closed portions of the road to allow emergency crews to operate safely and to document the scene. Accident reconstruction teams are continuing to gather evidence and analyze the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
Officials have stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and further details will be released once families are notified and more information is confirmed.
